“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,
and that the time of the Lord’s favour has come.”
(Jesus, Luke 4.18-19)
What Jesus' began the Church continues, bringing the good news of God's love to anyone living locked up, pressed down or shut out in darkness. In the life of the Church and the life of a Christian that discovery always begins with prayer.
"Prayer gets us in on what God is doing." (Eugene Peterson). Through prayer we welcome God's freedom and light into our lives, and through prayer we ask God to bring more freedom and light into the world. So prayer is both inward and outward. We want to live in God’s freedom and light, and we want our families, friends and neighbours to discover God’s freedom and light.
Holy Week is a chance to discover more of God’s good work through prayer as we reflect on Jesus life, death and resurrection. Join us this Holy Week by praying, and let’s get in on what God is doing.
