In the year 1999, Dr. Chris Brooks, along with his wife Heather and their 3 1⁄2 year old daughter Chloe, arrived in Malawi, Africa. Dr. Chris’ love for the Malawian people drew him to the rural villages where poverty, disease and superstition are the adversaries to life. Here he saw the great medical need and he began a rural medical outreach clinic on the shores of Lake Malawi, at first under the shade of a baobab tree. Such were the simple beginnings of this medical work! By 2002, with the help of many Canadians, the Lifeline Malawi Medical Health Centre was opened and we began to provide medical care, much needed treatment, maternity services and other initiatives that act to strengthen the health of the 100,000 men, women and children in the surrounding area. Our Christian values of faith, community, compassion, service and transparency continue to communicate who we are, to guide us, and to unite us with people who share these values in Canada, in Malawi, and around the world. We are extremely grateful, not only for our dedicated Malawian staff, and our great volunteers in Canada but also for generous supporters like Living Waters Church.

It is the love of Jesus that motivates us in our work. All who cross through the gates to the Lifeline Malawi Health Centre experience this love, along with the life transforming message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. What a privilege it is to serve this little community in Africa, bringing life and hope to the tens of thousands of people care for.
